A "little party" to thank military service members, President says...
Baltimore's Charm City Cakes, owned by Ace of Cakes star Duff Goldman, created a stunning cake for Monday night's Commander-in-Chief's Ball, where President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama had their very first dance of the second term. Charm City today tweeted this Instagram from the Ball.
"This little party is just another way to say something we can never say enough: Thank you," President Obama told the cheering crowd, many of whom wore dress uniform.
The patriotically decorated cake layers were red velvet, lemon poppy seed, pineapple coconut, and pumpkin chocolate-chip. Guests were active duty service members, Wounded Warriors, veterans, Medal of Honor recipients and their families, as well as Tuskegee Airmen and Gold Star families.
The President and Mrs. Obama--clad in a custom-made Jason Wu gown--had their first dance as Jennifer Hudson sang Let's Stay Together, and then had a second dance, partnering with active duty military: The President danced with Staff Sergeant Bria D. Nelson of the Air Force, and the First Lady was led around the stage by Gunnery Sergeant Timothy D. Easterling of the Marine Corps (above).
"The cake we were honored to create for the Commander-in-Chief Ball," Charm City tweeted with the photo.
