Video: President Obama Refelects On His First Inaugural, Looks Ahead To The Future
President Obama "talks about his favorite memories from his first Inauguration and what this Inauguration means to him" in a new video released by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. The President will be sworn in on Sunday during a small ceremony at the White House using the Robinson family Bible, and on Monday he will use Bibles owned by President Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
*The full schedule for the 57th Presidential Inaugural.
"Two figures that I admire probably more than anyone in American history are Dr. King and President Lincoln," President Obama says onscreen.
"So for me to have the opportunity to be sworn in using the Bibles of these two men that I admire so deeply on the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the fiftieth anniversary of the March on Washington is fitting, because their actions..the movements they represented are the only reason its possible for me to be inaugurated."
